Coffee Ratio Calculator
Pick your brew method, enter either how much coffee you have or how much you want to brew, and get the matching amount of the other in grams.
Ground coffee
20.0 g
Water
320 g
about 1.3 cups (240 ml each)
1 ml of water weighs 1 g, so a kitchen scale replaces a measuring jug. For espresso the second number is the liquid shot you pull, not the water you put in. For cold brew, dilute the concentrate about 1:1 before drinking.
Where these ratios come from
Each preset is the common starting ratio for that method. If the cup tastes sour or bitter, change the grind and brew time before changing the ratio. See our coffee to water ratio chart for the full ranges by method and how to diagnose a cup that tastes off.
